One Life at a Time is operated by Christine Lyngarkos, with the help of many volunteers. Christine has been involved in animal rescue since she graduated high school in 2000. She has a lifelong love of animals, especially horses.
In addition, Christine is interested in holistic medicine, herbalism, knitting and camping. When she is not rescuing, she enjoys riding and spending time with her horses. Her specialty is rehabbing older horses in memory of her childhood horse Chester.
Christine and her crew of volunteers work very closely to make the best decisions they can for the animals to live happy and healthy lives.

My name is Joanne Wormald, over the years I have fostered all kinds of animals including a number of Seeing Eye dogs. I ran my own small animal rescue for 12 years and have volunteered for over 15 years at various local shelters. Our house is never without a hamster, in fact I have 35 years of hamster care experience. At the moment our pets include 4 hamsters, 7 mice, 2 Whippets and 2 teenagers. I cannot imagine a home without pets in it and love fostering for One Life at a Time Animal Rescue.
One Life at a Time Animal Rescue, Inc. is a group of dedicated animal lovers from Berks County, PA. What started as a way to help save horses from slaughter, has morphed into a full-scale animal rescue and rehab. We now have evolved and expanded to accommodate guinea pigs, hamsters and some other exotics. It's not cheap or easy, but it is really rewarding to see them thriving in their new places! Helping one animal will not change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal!
Every animal that comes through the doors will be kept and cared for until they find their forever home.
The team is dedicated to healing and finding the best family possible for each animal, whether it's a foster or forever home. Above all else, the health, safety and happiness of each animal is our focus. One Life at a Time Animal Rescue, Inc. has no paid employees, and is 100% run by volunteers.
Our volunteers and fosters all get to know our pets and help build each animal's biography to give hopeful adopters the most complete information possible. Check out our volunteer, and adopt pages for more information about how you can get involved, foster, or adopt!
